Native American Heritage in American City Names

Learn how Native American language and heritage led to some of today’s most common city names – and why it matters!

Long before the Europeans arrived on North American shores – and subsequently drew the borders and maps we know today – Native American people had already named the lands, waterway, and many settlements across the US.

These names weren’t just labels – they were inscriptions that told stories about the location and connected the people to the land itself.

Native American Story Candles, soaps bath/ body products.

In 1998, Choctaw mother & daughter, Jean and Carissa started selling their bath and body products at their local farmers' market. Since Carissa was a teen she has made bath and body products. Following in her grandmother's footsteps she began making soap. Later soy candles were added to their repertoire.

Ingredients are important to 3Ps in a POD. Utmost care is taken in choosing what goes in their products. The soaps are made with organic base oils, herbs and botanicals and scented with essential oils or high quality fragrance oils. Native American scents include Smudge Stick, Prairie Sky, Sweetgrass, Smoke Signals and Lavender Sun. All products are phthalate-free and paraben-free.

Candles use clean burning soy wax with lead-free cotton wicks. Scents are blended in unique ways to not only smell fantastic but to create an experience. The Native American candles offer a story with each scent; either a traditional story, a memory or a way of Native life.
