I’m still trying to wrap my head around the news… the Gathering of Nations will end in 2026. If this Pow Wow has ever been on your bucket list, now is the time to make your plans. The final celebration will mark 43 incredible years, and it’s going to be unforgettable.
And finally, wish me luck! I leave Friday for Cleveland to attend the CEX conference, where I’ll be speaking on Monday. Honestly, I’m getting a little nervous but also super excited to share and connect.
Thanks,

Your Complete Guide To Pow Wows!
Whether you're planning to attend your first pow wow or simply wish to deepen your understanding of Native American culture, this ebook serves as an essential resource.
We recently had the chance to visit the Grand Ronde Pow Wow in Oregon, a trip that marked our first time in this beautiful state.
We were there to stream the pow wow live, and the experience left us impressed with the event, the community, and the region itself. This is a Pow Wow that needs to be on your list to visit!
From the moment we arrived, the warm hospitality from the staff set the tone for our visit. The event was hosted at the Spirit Mountain Casino and Resort, which provided top-notch food and comfortable accommodations, making it easy to focus on the pow wow and enjoy the surroundings.
The Grand Ronde area is stunning, with lush greenery and scenic views, adding to the overall atmosphere.
You may think you have Native American heritage, but there is a lot more to it than simply the stories about a distant ancestor that have been passed down through your family members.
The tribal enrollment process is a long journey.
And when it comes to researching your genealogy, you’ll likely stumble upon a lot of unfamiliar terms that may cause some confusion in your research process.
Thankfully, you have access to more information than ever before through the resources available online. Here, we will discuss the key differences between DNA test results, a CDIB card, and Tribal Enrollment.
The Purpose of DNA Test Results in Your Family History Search
DNA test results are not enough on their own to qualify someone as belonging to a specific tribe. However, a DNA test is a good place to start to see if attempting to enroll in a tribe is worthwhile for you.
Each different American Indian tribe has its own set of specific eligibility requirements for tribal enrollment. You cannot simply state that you are a descendant of such-and-such, who was a member of that tribe. You will often have to prove that your ancestor was indeed a member of that tribe, and you will also have to prove your relation to that ancestor.
From birthday parties to memorials, balloon releases have long been seen as a simple, beautiful gesture—a colorful display that floats away into the sky, carrying our messages, hopes, or love. They are often chosen for their visual impact and the symbolic sense of release they evoke. But behind this seemingly innocent act lies an overlooked truth: balloons don’t disappear into the heavens. They come back down, often far from where they were released, and the consequences can be devastating for wildlife, ecosystems, and even human communities.
For many, the choice to release a balloon is driven by emotion, tradition, or the desire to create a memorable moment. Yet when we look closely at what happens afterward, it becomes clear that this practice leaves a trail of harm—one that stretches well beyond the fleeting joy it provides. By understanding the real-life journey of a released balloon, we can begin to replace old habits with acts of remembrance and celebration that honor both our intentions and the world we share.
