The Last Gathering of Nations - Photos, Videos and more!
Published 3 days ago • 15 min read
I'm finally back at my desk and it feels good to be here. I'm not going to pretend I'm not behind, because I definitely am, but we're just going to do the best we can this week and knock out as many projects as possible.
First up is getting this newsletter out to you.
Scroll down and you'll find plenty to dig into. We're continuing to add more photos and videos from the Gathering, and the photos you see in today's email are from my friend Fuljens Henry. Fuljens is a friend and photographer I hired to come along and help me document the event. With this being the last Gathering of Nations, I wanted as much coverage as I could get, and he really came through. I'm still waiting on his video footage, but the moment I have it I'll be editing and getting it out to you.
We're also uploading livestream clips to our YouTube channel every day, usually four to six at a time, so keep checking back if you want to see more.
And there are few down below that I wanted to highlight.
Thank you so much for your support. It truly means everything. Now let's get into it.
Thanks, Paul G PowWows.com
P.S. If you haven't checked out the Circle yet, come hang out with us!
It's our own community platform that we built and manage ourselves, completely outside of Facebook, Twitter, or any of that. It's just us. We've been having a great time over there with discussions, polls, interactive challenges, and more. Earlier this month we did a private craft class with Wondering Bull, and we're already planning another one for June.
If you've been feeling done with social media lately, this is the place for you. It's a community we actually control, built for people who love what we love.
🔴 This Week in Native History — Because the Story Doesn't End Here
Hollywood has been making movies about Native Americans since 1894 — but it wasn't until 1998 that the first feature film written, directed, and co-produced by Native Americans actually reached a wide audience.
That film was Smoke Signals, and it had to win the Sundance Filmmaker's Trophy just to get distributed.
Then it took another 23 years before a TV show — Peacock's Reservation Dogs — finally had an entirely Indigenous writers' room and directing team. Over 125 years of Hollywood telling Native stories, and Native creators only got to hold the camera for the last 27 of them. So what else weren't you taught?
This week in Native history, we're digging into the stories that never made the screen →
👉 Subscribe to This Week in Native History and make sure the full story is always in your inbox.
Every great story deserves a good discussion around the fire.
That's what The Circle is, a gathering place for everyone who wants more than a weekly read. A place to ask questions, share photos, trade stories, and connect with people who show up for the same reasons you do.
No noise. No algorithm. Just the community you've been looking for.
The Circle is open. Pull up a seat.
And this week’s conversation starter is a fun one:
If you could live in any TV show universe, which one would you pick — and would you actually survive there??
Come jump into the conversation, see what everybody else is saying, and add your pick too. I always love seeing where these discussions go.
