Facebook has permanently removed our Pow Wow Trading Post group. With over 80,000 members, this group was an incredible space for artists to sell beadwork, skirts, regalia, art, and so much more. Sadly, due to Facebook’s policy banning any sales of animal parts (whether legal or not), our group was targeted and taken down. I reached out to Facebook support to try to resolve this, but as of now, there’s no appeal process available. The group, as we knew it, is gone. I know how devastating this is for everyone who depended on it to connect and support Native art and culture. While dabbling in the arts her entire life, it was not until she raised her children that she fully pursued this passion, beginning with a jewelry-making class at Haywood Community College. Wildcatt kept taking classes with teacher/mentor Greta Lutman, and learned jewelry fabrication, metal enameling, and more. Eventually, she opened her home studio, Greybeard Metalsmithing — an homage to her great-grandmother Polly’s maiden name. Wildcatt’s designs include contemporary, organically inspired shapes such as paper clip chains and elegantly attenuated silver drop earrings. In particular, she honors Cherokee designs and syllabary in her pieces. PowWows.com Native Talent “She gives me hope for the future of jazz.” – Judy Carmichael, NPR “Her voice is of another era.
