What a weekend! The Black Hills Pow Wow was incredible over 1,800 dancers filled the arena with color, music, and energy. If you missed the live stream, head over to our YouTube channel — trust me, you’ll want to see it. And if you did catch it live, go back and make sure you didn’t miss a moment.
We’ll be sharing clips of all the contest dances soon!
Today we’re also celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a day to honor, reflect, and celebrate the strength and beauty of Native cultures.
Today’s a good day to be Indigenous. ❤️
And we’re not slowing down! This weekend, Mike and Ryan (and their families) are packing up and heading to Milwaukee for the Hunting Moon Pow Wow. They’ll be live all weekend bringing you the action right from the arena floor.
As for me, I’m hopping back on the road to Florida for one of my favorite events of the year the Momentum Conference. I’ll be speaking about using email to level up your business… because yes, email still works when you do it right!
So whether you’re tuning into Pow Wow season or building your own kind of momentum, it’s going to be a great week!
And don’t forget — the Explore Native Challenge has started! 👉 www.powwows.com/win
We’re giving away three Eighth Generation blankets, plus jewelry and more. The best part? Each day has fun challenges that help you learn more about Native culture, history, and creators. And yes, you can enter daily for extra chances to win!
Thanks,

Indigenous Peoples' Day is a celebration of the cultures of those who were settled in the Americas before Europeans arrived. Throughout the Americas, countries celebrate Columbus Day, but in some US states and cities, there is a movement to change the day to Indigenous Peoples' Day.
How to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day
There are many ways to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day, whether it’s in the US as a replacement for Columbus Day or on the Summer Solstice in Canada.
Participate in a cultural appreciation event – There are often events that celebrate the cultures of the First Nations, as the indigenous people are often referred to. Things like powwows and parades occur all over North America. Many people worry that this is “cultural appropriation,” but organized events should avoid this problem.
Donate to indigenous peoples’ rights organizations – The people of the First Nations struggle to keep their rights and be treated as equals by individuals and governments at every level. A donation to one of these organizations can be used to help affirm those rights and help native peoples achieve the equality they deserve.
Many Americans celebrate the life of Christopher Columbus on the 2nd Monday of October each year; they falsely believe many now-debunked myths about Christopher Columbus and to this day continue to celebrate what many now believe to be a man who committed many atrocities against native or indigenous people. Native Americans do not in any way celebrate this day and many to this day are still trying to bring to light some of the atrocities he caused and let the truth be told.
If you’re anywhere near Oklahoma this month, you’ll definitely want to make plans to visit the Choctaw Cultural Center for their Choctaw Heritage Festival!
This special event celebrates Choctaw history, culture, and traditions with hands-on activities, live demonstrations, stickball, social dancing, and storytelling. You’ll also find delicious traditional foods and the chance to connect with artists and community members sharing their crafts and knowledge.
It’s one of the best times to experience Choctaw culture in person — whether you’re local or looking for a weekend road trip.
